Discover the Beauty of Santa Fe - Part 2

Santa Fe, the bustling capital of New Mexico, is known for its stunning architecture, beautiful landscapes and a rich artistic culture. In addition to these many southwest highlights, Santa Fe also boasts a booming farmers’ market where visitors and locals alike can take in the sights, sounds and tastes of Santa Fe. The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, founded in 1968, offers 100% locally grown produce and other locally sourced products. The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is a long-standing tradition and is among the longest running farmers’ markets in the United States.
Visitors can enjoy browsing through booths from over 150 local farmers, with products ranging from vegetables to locally sourced honey. The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday throughout the entire year, 7:00 am to 1:00 pm June through September and 8:00 am to 1:00 pm October through May. The market is also open every Tuesday, from May 2nd through November 21st, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. For those who are unable to make it during the day, the market is also open on Wednesday evenings, June 21st through September 27th, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market also hosts a variety of seasonal events and also has shops and a cafe. For more information on the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, click here.
In addition to the farmers’ market, a must-see during a visit in Santa Fe is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis Assisi. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis Assisi was built between 1869 and 1887 by Catholic Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy. This iconic yellow limestone cathedral became a basilica in 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. Thousands flock to this iconic holy site each year to take in the stunning stain glass windows and beautiful artwork and statues located within the basilica.
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis Assisi also houses the oldest Madonna statue in the United States, called “Our Lady of the Rosary, La Conquistadora,” and continues to be an active Catholic church with weekly masses and confessions. St. Francis Cathedral Basilica is open to the public for visitation from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
