Walk Through History in the Museums of San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas is a city that offers visitors with a number of interactive learning experiences that encapsulate the rich, long-running history of the city and of the southeastern United States. One of those museums is the Texas Air Museum at Stinson Field. The Texas Air Museum has two chapters across the state, one of which is directly in San Antonio.The museum tells the interesting history of aviation, from the very beginnings to present day. One notable exhibit piece is Katherine Stinson’s Bleriot, one of the earliest forms of an aircraft there is. Another museum that is a must-see while visiting San Antonio is the San Antonio Museum of Art. The San Antonio Museum of Art contains over 30,000 pieces in its robust collection. The museum features American, Mediterranean, Asian, European, Islamic, Latin American, Oceanic and Contemporary art with special exhibitions rotating in and out of the museum collection. The art museum is accessible from the iconic San Antonio’s Riverwalk with a shaded pavilion and terrace along the north side of the museum. The San Antonio Museum of Art is now part of the Museum Reach extension, allowing visitors to travel along the waterway and lining pathways to get to the museum. The museum includes a gift shop for souvenirs as well as Tre Trattoria, a restaurant open for lunch and dinner as well as brunch hours on Sundays.
