Overview
Gastrointestinal disorders are common in the general population. In the current health care arena, the primary care physician has increasingly assumed the role of primary care giver for patients with many of the most common gastrointestinal ailments. Consequently, it has become clinically important and economically prudent for primary care physicians to become familiar with the management of these disorders and perhaps most importantly when to consult a gastroenterologist. This program will address these evolving needs, providing the primary care provider with effective evidence-based diagnostic, therapeutic, and referral strategies for common gastrointestinal and liver related disorders.
Program Objectives
As a result of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Access and provide patients with an accurate diagnosis and optimal care for a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders seen in primary care.
- Integrate evidence-based strategies and recent guidelines for screening, prevention, and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and their comorbidities in clinical practice.
- Formulate comprehensive evidence-based interventions and treatment strategies for gastrointestinal disorders that will lead to the reduction of modifiable risk factors and improved long-term outcomes.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for primary care physicians, including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and those specializing in Gastroenterology. Health care clinicians, including physician assistants and nurse practitioners specializing in these areas or those managing patients with gastro and liver related disorders, may also benefit from this activity.
