Program Overview
With the surge of medical practices turning to telehealth platforms during the COVID-19 crisis, telemedicine has finally found acceptance with both patients and healthcare providers. Currently, CMS and insurance provider waivers on reimbursement and the loosening of HIPAA privacy standards for telehealth platforms have made it easy for healthcare professionals to implement the use of these technologies. However, this could all change in a post COVID-19 environment making it important for healthcare professionals to understand the complexities of implementing a viable telehealth model in their practice.
This self-paced online course provides medical professionals seeking to leverage telehealth into their practice with the groundwork necessary to develop a successful telemedicine strategy. Applicable regulations and compliance requirements will be reviewed as well as financial implications and reimbursement. The lecture discusses telemedicine platform considerations, privacy and security protection, and data integration with EMR and practice management software. Finally, as a bonus resource, the Additional Materials (pdf) includes case studies and many helpful resources regarding telehealth updates in the time of COVID-19.
