Course Content

Program Overview

Monkeypox Explained Clearly is a course designed to clarify, review, and augment the training and understanding of primary care clinicians in their understanding of monkeypox. Monkeypox Explained Clearly covers the nature of monkeypox and how it is transmitted, the signs and symptoms of monkeypox, the treatment after infection, and the vaccines currently available. This CME course will utilize a combination of video and systematic discussion of clinical scenarios and practice cases to effectively deliver the course content.

The modules included in this course take a departure from the traditional slide presentation style lecture. Instead, the course is comprised of video lectures aided by real-time instructor-led chalkboard visuals. This method of learning allows for the subject matter to be broken down to the basics and is designed to increase learning and retention.

Course Objectives:

As a result of this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

• Understand the nature of the monkeypox virus and its methods of transmission.
• Recognize the signs and symptoms of the monkeypox virus and the timing of its incubation period.
• Specify the correct treatment for monkeypox after onset of infection.
• Discuss the vaccines currently in use and the difference between the two currently available.
