Spirits and Wines of St. Augustine

One of the best parts of any vacation is not just all the amazing historical places and unique tourist destinations that you can’t find anywhere else but all of the unique food you get to enjoy along the way.

As any true foodie knows, there are not just new unique restaurants available to try but unique beverages as well. When attending a primary care CME conference in Palm Coast, Florida you are only a 35 minute drive from St. Augustine. One of the best and most relaxing tours in all of St. Augustine is visiting the St. Augustine Distillery. Although it was founded only a short time ago in 2013, the family-owned company has been turning heads with their unique spirits handcrafted and bottled from local ingredients every day.

St. Augustine Distillery

The free tours are available every day of the week and show the public the entire distillation process. As you walk through the factory you won’t forget the amazing smell of fresh mash wafting through the air and the unique care that goes into distilling each spirit. The distillery is as dedicated to making unique spirits as they are to preserving history as the business has completely restored and given new life to St. Augustine’s old ice factory that was originally constructed in 1907. The century-old factory ambiance gives a unique flair to these amazing spirits you won’t be able to taste anywhere else.

As you walk along the tour you’ll get plenty of chances to take pictures with the massive bourbon barrels and taste four unique cocktails along the way. If you fall in love with any of these drinks you’ll be able to purchase any of the available spirits at the award-winning gift shop at the end of the tour.

You don’t have to be a spirit aficionado to appreciate all of the unique flavors of bourbon, gin, and vodka you can try here, and bringing home a bottle will give you a taste and a memory of your vacation again and again.

Ice Plant Bar

As long as you’re in the area and if you’re looking for a unique place to eat then you should stop by the Ice Plant Bar. This farm to table restaurant aims to give you top-quality service and a unique ambiance that you are sure to not find anywhere else. Located right beside the St. Augustine Distillery this unique bar also shares its home with St. Austine’s old ice factory. The old charm of this location is not just harkened back to with its delightful menu but also through the wonderful cocktails they serve made from house-made syrups, bitters, and locally distilled, domestic, and international spirits. Perhaps the most unique quirk of the Ice Plant Bar is the custom ice cubes they create for every order and the ability to choose from three different types of ice. Whether you’re looking for a unique place to eat or a place to enjoy a cocktail at the end of the day don’t miss your chance to visit St. Augustine’s most artesian bar.

San Sebastian Winery

If you’re more of a wine drinker than a cocktail drinker or just want another amazing local tour to go on then be sure to visit San Sebastian Winery located just outside of St. Augustine’s Old Town. It would be the perfect place to visit at the end of the day if you decide on attending a CEC CME conference in St. Augustine this year. Just like the St. Augustine Distillery, this winery has also breathed new life into one of the city’s old historical buildings. Instead of being located in an industrial setting, San Sebastian Winery has made their home in an old railway building originally constructed by railway tycoon Henry Flagler in the early twentieth century.

Tours operate every day and free tastings are available for one or more of their amazing and unique tasting wines. Be sure to try one of their award-winning dessert wines as the rich and humid Florida air gives a unique profile that you will not be able to try anywhere else. If you’re looking to try a little more than just a sample feel free to stop by the rooftop bar and relax with a glass of wine as you watch the sun lazily sink under the Florida horizon. If you’re looking for a unique souvenir, gift, or simply want to bring back the taste of your amazing vacation then be sure to stop by the gift shop where you can buy a bottle of your favorite wine or a handcrafted gift basket for someone special back home.
