Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic
One of the most well-known events in the sport of surfing is the Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic which takes place every November to commemorate local surfer Tommy Tant who tragically lost his life due to a brain aneurysm in 1998.The town decided to keep his spirit alive with an annual competition that draws professional surfers and spectators from all around the world. What makes this event truly special is that all proceeds go into a scholarship fund for local Flagler Beach students.
Another amazing charity event in Flagler Beach every year is the Surfers for Autism Beach Festival.The goal of this charity is to not only bring awareness for those who have autism but to also raise money for charity and to connect autistic children and their families with the local community.
The event also connects autistic children and their families with professional surfing instructors who offer free lessons all-day for anyone wanting to learn in a safe and fun environment.
Although Flagler Beach is best known for these two amazing events you can still catch some amazing waves and connect with an amazing local community all year round. Flagler Beach welcomes surfers of all levels and there are plenty of places to rent a board and take a lesson if you wanted to try out this amazing hobby for a day.
