A Day with Florida’s Alligators
The Florida Alligator Farm and Zoological Park has been in operation for over a hundred years.
What began as a humble place for guests to see a few local species quickly grew into a large and respected zoo known for the quality and care it shows its animals. Visitors are given the chance to view not only local alligators, but reptiles, birds, and lemurs from all over the world.
Maximo
Among the numerous species of animals at the park some of the highlights include its collection of albino alligators, which are some of the most rare and beautiful in all of its species. But the star of the crocodilians has to be Maximo, a fifteen foot long saltwater crocodile with an appetite to match.
The beast is the largest animal in the collection and he can be viewed from a special underwater window if he is not found basking in the warm Florida sun. In addition to the wide variety of reptiles on display, guests can also see a unique plethora of bird species. The zoo is known for its stunning African birds and its housing of endangered lemurs. The zoo does not just offer guests the chance to view these animals, they also believe in the importance of educating the public about them as well. So, the zoo offers many different wildlife shows over the course of the day. One of the most exciting is the alligator feeding which takes place from twelve to three daily. These shows are free for any guest of the park so there is sure to be one to excite anyone. Take a moment to view more information about shows and ticket rates.
