Celebrate the Fourth of July like No Other on Kiawah Island
Every fourth of July, Kiawah Island throws a celebratory weeklong festival that you won’t find anywhere else complete with good food, live music, and plenty of fun activities that everyone can enjoy.
Any CEC attendees who take part in the conference during the second week of July get to enjoy a full week of fun and fanfare. The festivities kick off Sunday, July first with a family talent show and a sundae bar in Heron Park, so if you or your family have a unique talent or just a craving for ice cream be sure to make it!
Monday kicks off one of the most popular summer events of the summer on the island. The annual Mingo Point Barbeque draws in guests every week all summer long. The barbeque serves up slow-cooked pork and chicken as well as fresh caught and local seafood of all varieties, plenty of Southern side dishes, and a hearty serving of desserts. As you enjoy your meal you can watch the sun slowly set over the still river and listen to live music from local and popular bands. There are plenty of activities that children can enjoy including craft making and a local fair to shop around at if you are looking for a unique souvenir to take home with you.
On Tuesday you can enjoy various sports tournaments, another ice cream bar, and a drive-in movie if you’re just feeling like relaxing. Wednesday brings the first of many of the week’s annual firework shows. From 8 to 10 you can paddle a kayak or a canoe out into the marsh and watch fireworks brilliantly explode over the water as the sun slowly sets above you.
Much like it does every year, the fourth of July has the most activities and brings the most guests every year. The fun and activities last all day with plenty to do, one of the most fun is the sand sculpting contest that begins at one. One of the most popular activities on the island every year is the annual patriotic bike parade. Led by the local fire department, Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty, locals and guests decorate their bikes or dress and costumes and march across the island toward Heron Park for the Independence Day Festival. The festival features numerous different activities and games as well as plenty of food and a beautiful firework display.
Whether you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate Independence Day with your family or just want some fun during the summer months, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during Kiawah Island’s fourth of July celebration.
