Kiawah Island, a small island off the coast of South Carolina near Charleston, is widely known as being a golfer’s paradise. This small island offers some of the very best of golf in the entire country (if not the world), complete with lush green courses overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Kiawah Island is home to seven world-class golf courses. Out of these seven, the most famous course is The Ocean Course. The Ocean Course is ranked the #4 Public Golf Course in the U.S. and is only the fourth course in the world to have hosted every major PGA of America’s men’s championships, including the Ryder Cup (in 1991), the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid (in 2007) and the PGA Championship (in 2005).
Because of its proximity to the ocean and the way the course was designed, the course also experiences strong winds. In addition to the wind, it also has significant slopes and Bermuda grass, making it also one of the most difficult courses in the world. The Ocean Course is located at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and is a definite must-see if you are a golfing or aspiring golf enthusiast.

The Atlantic Room at The Ocean Course is Kiawah’s premier seafood restaurant, positioned to look out over the course and the ocean all at once.
The Atlantic Room is open daily for dinner only, from 5:30 to 9:00 pm. Chef Nick Torno is the genius behind the seafood delicacies, offering patrons “modern American twists on seasonal seafood selections.” The dinner, wine and dessert menus are available online for viewing. Dinner ranges from seafood stew, salmon, snapper and more. The Atlantic Room also offers to-die-for sides including truffle mac and cheese, Benton’s Bacon Mashed Potatoes and Pimento Cheese Grits with tomato jam.
In addition to The Atlantic Room, The Ryder Cup Bar also offers guests dining at the resort. The Ryder Cup Bar offers “modern pub fare” and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Ryder Cup Bar features an open porch for both inside and outside seating. The bar offers a more casual dining option to enjoy drinks, casual lunch or a la carte items while visiting with friends or watching the golfers out on The Ocean Course.
