Hop Aboard the World Famous Conch Tour Train

Entertaining tourists from all around the world for over sixty years the Conch Tour Train offers guests of Key West the opportunity to explore all the city has to offer from its unique local history, nature, cuisine, and entertainment that you can’t find anywhere else.

As you wind through the city’s streets in your open-air you’ll learn all about the history of the city from its nautical past of smugglers and pirates to the city in its present day. The tour train makes stops at all of Key West’s most famous attractions so you won’t have to be afraid of missing out on an attraction that you really wanted to see. The iconic locomotive style car makes it easy to spot once you’re ready to climb back aboard to resume your tour.

The first stop of the tour is Mallory Square where you’ll find plenty of unique shops that sell local souvenirs you won’t find anywhere else including rare seashells from around the world and natural sea sponges. If you’re too hungry to focus on shopping or just want something refreshing to enjoy in the Florida sun, there’s plenty of local cuisines and treats to try.

Key West Shipwreck Treasure Museum

The next stop on the tour takes you to the Key West Shipwreck Treasure Museum where you can learn all about the city’s past as a pirate and smuggler heaven or you’re more inclined to natural history you can take a trip to the city’s first attraction the Key West Aquarium and see tropical fish and sea turtles up close.

After your first two exciting stops, the tour train will glide through Duvall Street also known as Key West’s entertainment district where you’ll smell all the exciting flavors of local restaurants wafting out of the kitchens and hear numerous different local bands playing for cheering crowds of people from all around the country.

Ernest Hemmingway’s home

The next stop will take you to two of the city’s most famous landmarks. Here you’ll get the chance to take a tour of author Ernest Hemmingway’s home where he wrote some of his most famous works and even see some of the descendants of the many cats he kept there for good luck. If you want to journey even further into the city’s past than you may want to consider taking a tour of the Key West Lighthouse which became one of the first lighthouses in the country to ever be fully operated by a woman.

Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory

The final stop of the tour will take you past the Southernmost Point Buoy, the Southernmost mansion, and the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. At this stop, you’ll be able to explore even more of what makes this city such a fun and unique place to visit. If you decide to take a trip inside of the conservatory you’ll be greeted to selection of carefully curated gardens complete with several species of butterflies from all around the world as well as local and exotic tropical wildlife including Florida’s own famous flamingos.

With its iconic locomotive shaped tour car, open carriage cars, and conductor clad tour guide the Conch Tour Train really does feel like you’re getting a whimsical and personal tour back into the history of one of America’s most unique cities.
