The Unforgettable Views of Haleakala
Haleakalā is as massive as it is breathtakingly beautiful and serene. The large extinct volcano is known as a shield volcano meaning that it was created over several small lava flows and includes numerous peaks.
The volcano itself makes up nearly seventy-five percent of the island of Maui with the other twenty-five percent being the formed from the Mauna Kahalawai volcano. Many of these large peaks are located in the Haleakalā national park and are home to several endangered species and wildlife that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. The largest peak is also known as Haleakalā or house of the sun and stands at over ten-thousand feet. The peak has been a popular place to watch the sun rise and set for thousands of years and is regarded as one of the best places to visit in all of Hawaii. There are numerous options for tourists who want to witness the incredible view.
Valley Isle Excursions
Valley Isle Excursions offers a sunrise tour that includes a guided scenic van tour of the surrounding area. Guests will have to get up early as the van picks them up at their hotel or condo between two and three in the morning. The excursion offers two breakfasts before and after sunrise and coffee or tea will be provided during the sunrise. Even though the pickup time may be very early for many, the time ensures that visitors will be able to witness the incredible views of the sun rising over the Haleakalā crater. The tour includes numerous stops around the state park and will drop guests back off at their hotels or condos between ten and eleven. For additional information and reservations information, check out the Valley Isle Excursions website.
Polynesian Adventure
Polynesian Adventure offers a similar experience, but with both sunrise and sunset tours available. They offer guest pickup and delivery and provide either breakfast or dinner depending on what time guests decide to book. To make reservations and find more information, visit the Polynesian Adventure website. The sunset tour lasts from one-thirty pm to ten and can be booked online.
Adventure Maui
Another amazing vehicle tour includes Adventure Maui, another company that provides a guided tour and views of the sunrise. Like the other previous tours, they offer visitor pickup and delivery along with a complimentary meal. What separates this tour group from the others is that they arrive earlier in order to ensure guests the chance to capture photos of the night sky around the area along with the sunrise and a guide who is knowledgeable on local folklore and legends.
