Bonita Springs is a welcoming beach community in Southwest Florida nestled between Fort Myers and Naples. Its proximity to both cities makes getting to and from Bonita Springs easy. Named for a medicinal spring that Native Americans believed could heal the sick, the sugar-white beaches are perfect for beach activities, exploring nature, or canoeing, kayaking or standup paddleboarding out on clear waters. Its laid-back atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to relax, spend time with friends and family and unwind.
Because of its location, there are plenty of great day trips including a visit to Naples, Fort Myers and Sanibel and Captiva Islands as well as local adventures. The Barefoot Beach Preserve County Park has been on Dr. Beach’s Top 10 U.S. Beaches and listed as a top beach by the Travel Channel. It is one of the last undeveloped barrier islands on Florida’s southwest coast. This 342-acre park provides and open, peaceful location for sunbathers and is home to numerous wildlife. Nearby Estero, FL has outlet and high-end shopping plus Mound Key, a major ceremonial center of the indigenous Calusa Indians which is reachable only by boat or paddle craft. The Everglades Wonder Gardens, built in 1936 started out as a roadside attraction but is home today to over 300 rescued reptiles, native birds, alligators, tortoises and more.
