About Duck Key
Laid Back Luxury in the Florida Keys
The Florida Keys are back! Restaurants are open, resorts have been renovated and the beaches are as beautiful as always. This string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles off Florida's southern tip, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico are known for their laid-back vibe and as a destination for fishing, boating and scuba diving. The islands of the Florida Keys run south west from the city of Miami.
Midway down the Florida Keys, you’ll find an island called Duck Key- only 90 miles by car from Miami Airport, 130 miles from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport and 60 miles from the Key West Airport. Located in the middle of the Florida Keys (mile marker 61 ocean side) - it’s small, secluded, beautiful and easy to reach by car, boat or plane. Duck Key has a few telltale Florida Keys features: Aquamarine water all around with glorious sunrises and sunsets. An island sensibility that lulls you into a state of total relaxation – except for when you’re out fishing, snorkeling, paddle boarding or flying around on a wave runner. If you want to venture out from the Hawks Cay Resort, larger keys are just a short drive away.
Duck Key is nestled between two larger keys, Islamorada and Marathon. Islamorada is known for its world class sport fishing. The “Village of Islands” boasts the largest Florida Keys fishing fleet and that is why it has been dubbed the “Sport Fishing Capital of the World”. In addition to fishing, there are plenty of other activities including water sports, kayaking, diving, jet skis, and parasailing, boating and sunset cruises.
Marathon is known as the heart of the keys and is right before the Seven Mile Bridge which leads you out to Key West. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping in Marathon as well as the fun and educational Dolphin Research Center.
About an hour and half drive away is Key West which is known as the southernmost point in the continental US. Tour Hemingway’s house, walk along the waterfront or famous Duval Street, eat at the many restaurants and dance in the many bars – Key West is what you make of it!
